Hello I am Ven, a poet, musician, Cat Dad, Actual Dad, Portuguese-American, and US Army Infantry Veteran, I also am former corporate worker with 20 years marketing and research experience.

In 2025 I quit corporate life due to the fact that every action, every day felt like bullshit. None of it mattered and none if it felt like things humans should be doing.

So I started VenBats as an AI company, being as I, was quite good at AI, was a day 1 chat GPT user, and knew more about it than anyone I knew IRL.

Very quickly I realized that I was replacing my nonsense corporate job with my own self-employed nonsense. That sucked, but the biggest factor in my decision to not pursue this was the look in my teenage kids eyes. They were not proud. Simultaneously, the developments at the end of 2025 made it clear that generative AI is not a boon to makind, either as an industry or a technology. Financially it is a circular mess. Agents don't function without immense handholding and Vibe coding just makes shit. 90% of AI is glorified auto complete that's main goal is to sound smart.

And worse than that for individuals using it in a personal context, it is DANGEROUS to give some code an ability to shape your mental health. It is set up to never say you're wrong. It is the worst of echo chambers.

It doesn't have any deep answers for you on life, or happiness, and we should use it simply as slightly better google only.

YOU are the only expert in existence on yourself, it is better to do the work yourself, ask yourself questions so you can probe your own mind and your own feelings and experiences.

So I quit my AI company on January 1st 2026, have barely used any AI since. Turned AI off in as many places as it is possible to turn it off. Uninstalled all the apps. Abandoned or deleted all the log-ins I had (about 60).

Now I am looking to document more ways I try to be more real human and less fake-ass piece of shit human. My hope is that sharing my journey may help you on yours. I write poetry and guitar based songs. For now I will be sharing stuff about that. Maybe that will be enough but I have more plans to do more human things.
